Independent Maritime Advisory

Maritime performance and emissions compliance, quantified.

Consultancy on vessel performance and emissions compliance under EU ETS, FuelEU Maritime, MRV, CII, and IMO DCS.

PhD, Naval Engineering 10 years in maritime data and vessel performance EU ETS, FuelEU Maritime, MRV, CII, and IMO DCS

What I Do

Areas of practice.

01

Emissions Compliance

EU ETS, FuelEU Maritime, EU/UK MRV, IMO DCS, and CII. Readiness assessments, compliance strategy, pooling and penalty-exposure analysis, and verifier coordination.

02

Vessel Performance

Performance modeling, fuel-efficiency and speed/consumption analysis, and sensor- and noon-report data quality.

03

Emissions Data Assurance

Independent reconciliation and audit of reporting data, validation logic, and the correction of misreported fuel and emissions, before they reach a verifier or a regulator.

How It Works

How an engagement works.

  1. 01

    Assess

Establish where your fleet stands against current and upcoming regulation, and baseline its performance and data quality.

  2. 02

    Strategize

Map the compliance pathway, quantify cost and penalty exposure, and identify the performance and efficiency opportunities.

  3. 03

    Assure

Deliver verifier-ready reporting and ongoing advisory as the regulatory landscape tightens.

About

Dr. Angelos Ikonomakis

Periplus Maritime is the independent practice of Dr. Angelos Ikonomakis, a naval engineer working on vessel performance and maritime emissions compliance. He holds a PhD in Naval Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark and has spent ten years in maritime, from research on sensor data and vessel performance at Maersk to product leadership in emissions and compliance software at Navtor. He currently works with Navtor as Product Team Lead for the Performance domain, as an independent consultant.

Periplus Maritime mark: an open-ring load line, an unbroken waterline passing through a ring that opens to let it through

Background

  1. Oct 2026–Present

    Independent consultant · Periplus Maritime

Consultancy in vessel performance and maritime emissions compliance. Current engagement: Product Team Lead for the Performance domain at Navtor.
